Given the alarming number of individuals who present with eating disorders, such as anorexia, bulimia and compulsive overeating, many health care professionals feel the need and the urgency to acquire training on how to properly assist such individuals.  After receiving many requests, the BACA clinic is pleased to offer such a training for all those working with individuals who are suffering from an eating disorder, and who wish to expand their knowledge in this area or perfect their existing skills. A two-day training program was created with the objective of offering a range of helpful, concrete and practical tools that have proven to be effective with the clientele at the BACA clinic. The total cost of the training is $250.00.  

The next dates of the BACA training are :

BACA TRAINING

Clinical interventions with individuals suffering from eating disorders

Day1 : 

9 :00 to 12 :00 :     ·  General information on eating disorders

- Etiology, epidemiology and statistics related to eating disorders.

- Diagnostic criteria and general definitions of anorexia, bulimia and non-specified eating disorders (compulsive overeating, night eating disorder, orthorexia, compulsive exercising…)

- Causes, correlations, and risk factors

- The multidisciplinary evaluation process

-  Co-morbidities (Axis I, Axis II)  

-   Psychopharmacology  

- Family dynamics

12 :00 to 13 :00 :    ·  Lunch

13 :00 to 17 :00:      ·  Therapeutic Interventions          

-   Client motivation: How to deal with resistance and to adapt one’s clinical interventions in order to take into account the client’s level of motivation.  

- The functions of an eating disorder: How to identify underlying issues

- Dealing with perfectionism, rigidity, obsessions, anxiety and guilt  in therapy

- Body image and self acceptance 

-   Different therapeutic approaches

-   Frequency and the types of recommended services  

-   Full recovery  

-   Clinical interventions with family members and loved ones

 DAY 2:

-   The theory of natural weight, anthropometry (?)

-   Issues related to weight and weighing clients  

-  The consequences of restricting food intake and dieting

-   Cognitive distortions related to food and weight

-   Obstacles preventing healthy eating behaviors

-   Nutritional supplements

-   Nutritional interventions and tools

-  Analysis of case studies brought up by participants of the training followed by the design of a therapeutic plan.
